Operating principle of high-pressure oil pump The fuel transfer pump sucks the fuel from the fuel tank pump, passes through the fuel filter with oil-water separation device and reaches the oil inlet of the high-pressure pump. The fuel transfer pump allows the fuel to enter the lubrication and cooling circuit of the high-pressure pump through the orifice of the safety valve. The camshaft makes the plunger of the three pumps move up and down according to the contour of the cam. When the plunger of the high-pressure pump moves downward (oil suction stroke), the fuel transfer pump allows the fuel to enter the plunger cavity through the high-pressure pump inlet metering proportional valve and the step return valve. After the high-pressure pump plunger crosses the bottom dead center, the oil inlet valve closes. In this way, the fuel in the plunger cavity is sealed, and it will be compressed with an oil pressure higher than the oil supply pressure. Once the oil pressure reaches the oil pressure of the common rail, the oil outlet valve will be opened. The compressed fuel enters the high-pressure cycle. The plunger continues to supply fuel until it reaches the top dead center (fuel supply stroke). The pressure decreases, resulting in the closing of the outlet valve. The fuel pressure still in the plunger cavity also decreases, and the plunger moves downward again. As long as the pressure in the plunger cavity falls below the oil supply pressure of the fuel transfer pump, the oil inlet valve opens again and the oil suction process begins again.
